SKIN CANCER
Skin cancer is a
condition that develops after prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays. This
long-term exposure causes than the cells of the skin to grow in a fast, out of
control, eventually leading to the formation of a tumor on the skin. About
60,000 people in the United
Kingdom develop this State every year. There
are actually three different types; Basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell
carcinoma malignant melanoma.
(1) Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC):
It is the most
common form of skin cancer and represents 75% of all diagnoses. As the name
suggests starts where the process of cell division is not in the basal cells of
the epidermis (the outermost layer of the skin) and form a tumor. Often, this
tumor resembles red sores on the skin which can expire, crust or itching and
often gets the nickname of "rodent ulcer.". Basal Cell Carcinoma
usually appears on areas of the body that are exposed to the Sun such as the
arms, legs and face. Even if it is the most common type of skin cancer rarely
kills. However, it can so disfigure treated skin for a long time.
(2) SQUAMOUS CELL carcinoma:
This type of skin
cancer represents between 15% and 20% of the cancer of the skin. This tumor
shows often look like a red hard piece or a flat, scaly, gale as area. If the
ICC, carcinoma squamous cell carcinoma often on parts of the body that are
exposed to the Sun appears and kills rarely. However, if left untreated it can
spread to other parts of the body.
(3) MALIGNANT MELANOMA:
This type of skin
cancer is less than 10% of diagnoses. It develops into skin cells called
melanocytes produce melanin. Melanoma begins at the point where the cell
division process does not address these melanocytes and they begin to divide
and multiply uncontrollably, leading to the development of a tumor. This tumor
is a large, Brown Mole like appearance and can be displayed on your arms, back,
legs, or face. In contrast to the BCC and SCC, this type of cancer is very
dangerous if not treated quickly and represents the majority of skin cancer
deaths.
